We are pleased to announce that we have a proposed candidate for U.S. Senate, to run against Sen. Michael Bennet, and we need your input.

Arn Menconi is a former county commissioner of Eagle County who served two terms (and then termed out). He is the founder and former executive director of S.O.S Outreach, a summer outdoor education and leadership program for at-risk youth. He currently lives in Carbondale.

He is running for U.S. Senate because he wants to “get serious about how to proceed as a nation and state. Americans have to take back democracy from the Global Corporate Mafia that runs our country. We need a revolution that elects someone that fights for climate, social and economic justice.”

You can read more at his website, at arnmenconi.com.

Our state party bylaws state that when a candidate is seeking the nomination for office, if they are not affiliated with a chapter, they have to receive a nomination from at least three chapters. There is no chapter covering the Carbondale area. At the moment, Menconi has no opponent, and we do not know of any other candidates that are considering running for senate as a Green.
The Denver chapter voting members are voting on nomination now, and , if we have heard no objections by Monday, February 29 at 3 p.m., we will consider Arn Menconi nominated by the Denver Green Party and will inform the state party as such.

On a side note, the state party will be hosting Skype teleconferences with each candidate to give Colorado Greens the chance to hear more about these platforms and ask questions. Stay tuned for more information.
